WAR REMNANTS MUSEUM

The War Remnants Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the Vietnam War (also known as the American War in Vietnam) and its aftermath, while also showcasing the impact of the war on the Vietnamese people.

The museum is renowned for its extensive collection of photographs, artifacts, military vehicles, aircraft, artillery and other equipment used during the war. One of its most famous exhibits is the wreckage of a B-52 bomber.

A notable feature of the museum is its Agent Orange Section, which highlights the devastating effects of this toxic herbicide used by the U.S. military during the war. The exhibit shows how Agent Orange caused long-lasting health problems for millions of people in Vietnam. Another chilling display simulates a tiger cage, a form of confinement used for imprisoning prisoners of war during the war. The harsh conditions inside these cages are highlighted, underscoring the brutality faced by detainees.

The War Remnants Museum has been one of the most visited museums in Ho Chi Minh City for many years. Visitors, especially those from the West, come to learn about the Vietnam War – a conflict of great political significance in modern world history – and to understand how Vietnam achieved a resounding victory over the United States, as well as the war’s enduring aftermath.
